I typically draw in a cartoon style in order to get people to really look.  Alot of people aren't willing to to actually look at the meaning behind a piece.  However, people are use to  cartoons, they see them everyday, and cartoons generally have a point.  So people are comfortable with discerning a meaning from a cartoon.  It makes people want to understand them.  Additionally, you can tacke more serious issues without offending people as easily because they only view them as "cartoons".

Intaglio Print

These were done after September 11th.  The focus here is in the feelings of people so I didn't want to dominate the image with the tragedy (that had been done enough).  Instead I focused on a lone figure with newpaper clippings passively in the background.  On American Rage D I simply scanned in the Intaglio (a form of printing involving etching into metal with acid) and colored it using PhotoShop 6.  I went a step futher with my focus making the figure "crisp" and the background slightly out of focus.
